Baking has always been a super popular hobby. It is something to pass the time and you get something tasty out of it (most of the time anyways). It's always quite a seasonal thing too, at Christmas you'll bake a Christmas cake, gingerbread men etc... at Easter the classic British treat is the chocolate cornflake treats (if you count that as baking) and the list goes on and on and on.
