In Tanglewoods: Gold, you find yourself lost in the woods, wanting nothing more than a soft bed to sleep in (but not too soft) and a nice bowl of hot porridge (but not too hot). Being lost in the woods wouldn't be so bad if you were alone, but you're not.... Somewhere in these woods, looking for you, are the apex predators. To keep you from dilly-dallying around the forest too long, day is slowly turning into night, and you don't want to hang around the Tanglewoods at night! All your forest cards and map cards begin on their less-threatening "daytime" side. However, after each engagement, your map and all the forest cards in your tableau flip to "nighttime" before being discarded - which means that the longer you wander around the forest trying to to get strong, the stronger the forest is going to get. Be very careful; you don't want to waste too much time before drawing the bears out and trying to put an end to this! The Three Bears: This deck sees you hurrying to defeat the three bears before they defeat you in a push-you-luck style game that allows you to avoid your foes indefinitely or take them on as soon as you're strong enough. The three bears begin out of play, and you can bait them into the forest deck any time you visit the merchant. However each brings their own powerful abilities into play, so you don't want to risk those encounters too early.
