What are The Brit Awards? The Brit Awards are the British phonographic industry’s popular music awards which featured many of the top artists, celebrating and honouring some of the greatest musicians in the world.
Adele Takes Over
Adele led the February 8th BRIT Awards, taking home three awards at the London ceremony. Her work is most definitely worth the listen, my personal favourite has to be 21!
“I’d like to dedicate this award this award to my son - and to Simon, his dad,” Adele said, in reference to her ex-husband, while receiving the Album of the Year award. “I’m very proud of sticking to my guns and putting out an album that’s so personal to me.”
Rising Stars
Another female artist - who also won both of the Brits’ awards for Rising Talent - Little Simz, won Best New Artist. Make sure you check out the Drop 6 EP. Holly Humberstone has already been announced as this year’s winner of the Rising Star award.
Little Simz performed a medley of 'Introvert' and 'Woman' at the BRIT Awards 2022. She was joined by Emma Corrin of The Crown and a fleet of dancers. Little Simz bought her mother onto the stage to collect the award for Best New Artist. It was undoubtedly the sweetest moment of the night. Little Simz was nominated for four awards at this year's BRIT Awards, she was nominated for Album of the Year (Sometimes I Might Be Introvert), Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, and also Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap.
A personal favourite, Dave, performed “In the Fire” at the 2022 Brit Awards and was awarded four awards. His Album of the Year (We’re All Alone in This Together), Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (Clash), and also Best Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act. Dave’s performance ended when he shredded through a guitar solo whilst the guitar literally fired flames into the sky!
Bad Habits
Over the course of the Brit Awards’ history, we have had some iconic duets. However, we were not expecting to see this year was Ed Sheeran getting his heavy metal on with Bring Me the Horizon. Ed was nominated for British Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best British Song (Bad Habits), and best pop/R and B Act. Don't forget to check out our selection of Ed’s albums.
